Statistics Reveal Importance of Swimming for policy to increase physical activity
Swimming has increased in popularity among younger adults, making it the most common sport and exercise activity among adults in Ireland, according to a new analysis by the ESRI. Almost 7% of adults aged 16 and over swim each week, amounting to roughly 230,000 regular swimmers.

Disabilty in the Labour Market - evidence from the QNHS 2010
In 2010, working-age people with a disability were less than half as likely to be active in the labour market (36% compared to 77% of other adults) and had a considerably higher unemployment rate (22% compared to 16% of other adults) than those without a disability.

Black Africans have the highest rate of unemployment and the lowest rate of employment; this group also reports the highest rates of discrimination both in the workplace and when looking for work.

National Employer and Employee Surveys
ESRI media release on two new National Workplace Surveys drawing on in-depth surveys of over 3,000 employers and 5,100 employees in Ireland carried out in 2009.
