The Economic Contribution of Digital Skills to Competitiveness
This research will examine the economic contribution of digital skills to innovation and productivity in the context of an increasing importance of artificial intelligence (AI) and other digital technologies within the economy in Ireland and other advanced economies. In this context, a particular focus will be on the role of education in providing the skills needed for the digital economy. This will include an assessment of existing evidence on the use of digital technologies across primary and second-level schools and the promotion of digital skills within and across schools. This evidence will help to better understand the challenges and opportunities associated with the adoption and diffusion of digital technologies and the potential economic contribution of upskilling within the digital economy to competitiveness.
