Conference: Environmental Policy and Emissions Projections for Ireland
Venue: ESRI, Whitaker Square, Sir John Rogerson’s Quay, Dublin 2
This half-day conference presents latest research undertaken by ESRI researchers as part of an Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) funded project "Towards a Green Net National Product for Ireland".
The objective of the research is to improve knowledge of environment-related behaviours in the business and household sectors in order to inform public debate on future environmental emissions and policy response options. The research uses the Irish Sustainable Development Model (ISus) which tracks the relationship between economic activity in 20 sectors of the economy and emissions, such as greenhouse gases and waste generation. The latest emissions projections will be presented at the conference, while subsequent presentations will address policy issues related to climate/energy, socioeconomic distribution of emissions, water, transport and agriculture.
The project research report, "Towards a Green Net National Product for Ireland", to be published by the EPA, will be launched at the conference.
