Launch of the All Island Economy research project
The absence of a data-based, statistical macroeconomic model for Northern Ireland, similar to what is available for Ireland and the UK, has long been identified as a significant gap for both forecasting exercises for the Northern Ireland economy and in assessing the impact of key events and policy measures on an all island economy basis. In addition to developing such a model and linking it to macro-models of Ireland and the wider UK, the three year research project to be undertaken by the ESRI and NIESR, with the support of Ibec, will also produce a range of other micro policy analysis papers, including one examining the impact of Brexit on cross-border trade on the island.
Our launch event will provide further details on the research project and work programme, with inputs from Alan Barrett, Director of the ESRI, Jagjit Chadha, Director of NIESR and Danny McCoy, CEO of Ibec. A panel discussion involving business leaders and economists with an interest in the all island economy will share their insights on the potential benefits of the project.
This event will be held virtually through Microsoft Teams.
