Teaching and Learning in Second-Level Schools at the Advent of High-Speed Broadband
As part of Ireland’s National Digital Strategy, the Irish government has invested substantially in a national roll-out of high-speed broadband to all second-level schools in the country. With this higher quality broadband connection comes a new set of challenges: how can ICT support and transform teaching and learning in schools?
On 27th October, the ESRI will publish “Teaching and Learning in Second-Level Schools at the Advent of High-Speed Broadband”. This report examines the impact of broadband provision on teaching and learning, drawing on data from surveys of principals and teachers in over 400 schools and an in-depth case study of ten schools.
Mr. Richard Bruton, TD, Minister for Education and Skills, and Mr. Seán Kyne, TD, Minister of State, will speak at the event. Seán Lyons (ESRI), an author of the report, will present research findings from the publication.
