Wages and Working Conditions of non-Irish nationals in Ireland
Prof Alan Barrett (Director, ESRI) will launch this report titled Wages and Working Conditions of Non-Irish Nationals in Ireland.
Migrants make a significant contribution to the Irish economy and workforce. This report examines the earnings and working conditions among migrants from different nationalities, and how these compare to that of Irish nationals.
The report draws upon a rich dataset to explore the migrant wage gap in Ireland – that is, the average difference in hourly earnings between Irish and migrant workers.
The authors will examine: the extent of the wage gap between Irish and non-Irish nationals; differences in the migrant wage gap among men and women; whether education can mitigate this gap in earnings; and if the migrant wage gap in Ireland has changed between 2011/12 and 2017/18.
This report is part of a research programme on integration and equality funded by the Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth.
