Maryam Afzal

Maryam joined the ESRI as a Research Assistant in April 2024. She holds a MSc in Applied Economics from University College Dublin and prior to this completed a BSc in Economics at University College Dublin.

Maryam has previously worked as an IGEES (Irish Government Economic and Evaluation Service) Intern with the Research Services and Policy Unit at the Department of Health where she worked on forecasting acute hospital expenditure. Her work at the ESRI is in the area of Health economics with a particular focus on the capacity review for the DOH and the Hippocrates model.
