‘Doing old folks' lungs a solid?’ Who burns solid fuels among older Irish adults and its links to health

This article explores the relationship between solid fuel heating and respiratory and circulatory disease using data from The Irish Longitudinal Study on Ageing (TILDA). It finds a strong association between open fire use and respiratory disease morbidity even when controlling for socio-demographic characteristics, childhood health history, and smoking behaviour, while this was not the case for circulatory disease.
