Assessing the stability of employment among young people in Ireland after the Great Recession

This chapter examines the extent to which young people qualifying from the educational system in Ireland have had a greater or lesser exposure to unstable employment following the Great Recession. The study examines the extent to which individuals qualifying at various education levels have faced an increased likelihood of temporary employment between 2006 and 2012. The research examines the descriptive evidence before assessing the extent to which the marginal impact of various credentials on the likelihood of temporary employment compared to permanent has changed over the time period. The sample for the main part of the study is restricted to individuals under the age of 26 who entered employment subsequent to obtaining a formal qualification in the previous 12 months.
