The Impact of the Great Recession on Families with Children

This study makes use of the first and second waves of the 2008 and 1998 cohorts of the Growing Up in Ireland survey to explore the impact of the Great Recession on families and children in Ireland. Along with the overall rise in economic vulnerability and the continuing importance of lone parenthood and low levels of education as risk factors, the study found that economic vulnerability had spread to families with a less disadvantaged profile during the recession (e.g. couple families with higher levels of education).
