Towards a Rate of Return on Training: assessing the research on the benefits of employer-provided training

An important avenue of research is the direct estimation of the link between training and wages, and training and productivity. In addition it is recognised that training has other goals such as increased job satisfactions and mobility. With information on such returns to employer, provided training better decisions can be made. But what is the state of knowledge in this area?
