Learning from comparative studies of Ireland and Northern Ireland

The joint research programme with the Department of the Taoiseach, The Economic and Social Opportunities from Increased Cooperation on the Shared Island, has yielded new insights into important policy issues. This report synthesises programme findings to assess outcomes across the life course and how these are influenced by policy in the two configurations. The study points to similarities and differences in the policy challenges facing Ireland and Northern Ireland and discusses the potential for strengthening cross-border collaboration in relation to key strategic priorities.
