Alan Barrett chairs National Economic Dialogue 2018

The National Economic Dialogue takes place in Dublin Castle on Wednesday 27 and Thursday 28 June. It is hosted by the Department of Finance and Public Expenditure and Reform. The objective of the dialogue is to facilitate open discussions on the competing economic and social priorities facing the Government.

Representatives from the Oireachtas, business, unions, research institutes, the academic community, voluntary and environmental groups and the diaspora have been invited. The opening address will be given by An Taoiseach, Leo Varadkar, TD.

Professor Alan Barrett, Director of the ESRI, will chair the whole event for the fourth year, kicking off the opening session at 9.30am on Wednesday. Professor Barrett will deliver his closing remarks at 11:30am on Thursday.

Professor Kieran McQuinn, ESRI, will give a presentation on the macroeconomic outlook, which will take place at 9.45am on Wednesday.

Dr Adele Bergin, ESRI, will act as rapporteur on a breakout session titled "Reforms for Sustainable Productivity Growth" chaired by Heather Humphreys, TD, Minister for Business, Enterprise and Innovation at 2pm on Wednesday. Dr Bergin will deliver feedback from the breakout session at 9am on Thursday.
