Consumer Sentiment Remains Unchanged in November
Mood Of Irish Consumers Holds Steady In November
The overall KBC Ireland/ESRI Consumer Sentiment Index is broadly unchanged in November at 85.3, compared to 85.5 in October. The 3-month moving average fell to 87.9 in November, from 88.5 in the previous month.
Commenting on the results Ciara Morley, ESRI, said
- “Consumer Sentiment was broadly stable in November. Consumers remain pessimistic about their current and future household finances. However, we do see monthly gains in consumers’ perception of unemployment levels over the next 12 months as well as a more positive view of the environment for purchasing durable goods.”
- “It is worth noting that compared to November 2013 all five components of the Consumer Sentiment Index are up between 10 and 20 per cent. Although consumers continue to feel uncertain in November, this year-on-year growth provides some positive and important information.”
- “The index of consumer expectations fell in November to 78.4 from 79.7 last month while the index of current economic conditions rose slightly from 94.1 in October to 95.7 in November.”
