Irish Consumer Sentiment increases in June

Irish Consumer Sentiment reaches nine year high in June

The overall KBC Ireland/ESRI Consumer Sentiment Index increased from 98.5 in May to 102.8 this month. The 3-month moving average continued to rise in June from 98.3 in May to 100.0.

Commenting on the results Ciara Morley, ESRI, said

"Consumer Sentiment continues to show strong signs of improvement in the first half of this year. This month sees the Consumer Sentiment Index, as well as the two main sub-indices at their highest levels since 2006. While there has been some volatility in the Index in the first 6 months of the year the broad trend, as suggested by the three-month moving average, appears to be very positive."

"Both the Index of Consumer Expectations and the Index of Current Economic Conditions rose this month to 95.4 and 113.9 respectively. We also saw gains in the five individual components of the Index. Consumers view the current purchasing environment less negatively this month and continue to maintain a positive view of employment opportunities in the coming year."
