What do Groupthink, Energy Bills and Smoking all have in Common?

All are topics under discussion at the Irish Economics and Psychology conference in Dublin today

Leading experts in behavioural economics from the UK and Denmark will join Irish psychologists and economists in the ESRI today (27 November 2015) for the 8th annual Irish Economics and Psychology conference. The conference, which is organised by the Irish Behavioural Science and Policy Network, will explore topics as diverse as how your childhood self-control relates to your later-life smoking, how different billing designs can change consumer behaviour, and whether couples' personalities affect their net wealth as they get older.
A special theme of the conference will examine the implications of behavioural economics for public policy. Speaking about the conference, Dr Pete Lunn, ESRI, said “Behavioural science is changing the way governments around the world go about their business. Through today's conference, we are trying to make people aware of the progress being made and the opportunities for applying this relatively new science to improve public services and public policy.”
